| Summary: | The City of Austin anticipates selecting a qualified professional engineering firm (Consultant) to provide planning, design, and construction phase services for the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant (BMP). The objective of this project is to increase the effectiveness of side stream treatment by adding a second side stream plant dedicated to reducing high strength ammonia (NH3-N) and total nitrogen from the plant’s dewatering process prior to entering Hornsby Bend BMP’s pond system. The proposed plant technology will utilize denitrifying bacteria called anammox (anaerobic ammonium oxidation) utilizing the Anita™Mox attached growth Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) process from Veolia. |
