| Summary: | Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) for Dougherty Arts Center Facility Replacement - To build a new building and related Structures to the building. The work consists of providing a new Dougherty Arts Center (DAC) facility at the selected site on Butler Shores Park, including all associated sitework, parking, parkland enhancement, public space and right of way improvements. It is the intention of the City that the successful Construction Manager-at-Risk (CMR) work with the Project Management team and Design Consultant early in the design phase for preconstruction services; such as design-phase cost control, constructability reviews; and construction phase services. The solicitation for the Design Consultants is underway and will be awarded prior to the execution of this contract. In the fall of 2018, the Austin community approved Bond Proposition B, which provided funding for replacement of the existing DAC facility, and in spring 2019, Council approved the Parks and Recreation Department’s (PARD) proposed location for this new facility on Butler Shores Park. The future DAC facility is envisioned to build on the existing core arts programs in an improved environment that can better accommodate the City’s significant demand for affordable access to arts services. The CMR shall provide pre-construction and construction services for a new structure that will continually adapt to the needs of users and staff of the DAC. The space should encourage active inquiry, foster the love of learning through thoughtful design and enhance the function of each core arts program. Consistent with the concepts from the preliminary project phase, the arts facility sustainable construction practices on an urban parkland site. |
